Hair Ties

If you’re planning on enjoying the heat during your summer vacation you will not want to forget plenty of hair ties. How many times have you gone to put your hair into a ponytail or bun and realize you’ve lost your last hair tie? They tend to get lost a lot, but don’t take up that much space in your luggage so pack up.

We’ve talked about this one before, but it’s too important not to mention every time. You need to pack (and use) sunscreen. There are a ton of different kinds and the ones you pack will depend on whom you’re traveling with. Spray sunscreen is great to quickly apply on kids. We like this one from Coppertone. For the grown ups you should look into a sunscreen that doubles as a facial moisturizer. Just be sure the SPF is at least 35 and you reapply often.

Bathing Suits

This is a no brainer, but our tip is to pack at least two. Getting into a wet bathing suit is not fun. If you pack two, you can let one dry while you’re out on the beach in the second. Think about what activities you have planned and pack accordingly. And no, this isn’t permission to pack 30 swimsuits for a weekend getaway.

A Hat

An easy way to protect your face from the sun is to wear a hat while you’re out and about. Summer vacation is the perfect time to show off that floppy hat. If you’re doing more exploring and less lounging grab a baseball hat.

Portable Battery

Spending the whole day on the beach means you won’t have easy access to plug in your phone. Bring a portable battery with you so you can charge on the go.

Lip Balm

Your lips will get chapped and burnt if you don’t take care of them on vacation. A lip balm with an SPF of at least 15 is a must, but the higher the SPF the better. You’ll probably only apply it in thin layers, which can diminish the amount of protection you’re getting. Pick a clear lip balm or one with a tint of color and make sure you have it with you at all times. You will want to reapply often.
