Spirit Airlines has become the go-to for a cost efficient, low-fare airline which operates scheduled flights throughout the United States, Caribbean, Mexico, Latin America and South America. Self Park FLL has been serving Spirit airlines crew and customers for low cost Fort Lauderdale airport parking since 2016.
Spirit has seen significant growth over the last seven years, with operating revenue increasing to 3.8 billion dollars in 2019 and is expected to have 160 aircrafts in service by the end of 2020. With the undeniable growth of traveling customers, many are wondering how the airline has approached necessary safety measures during the covid-19 pandemic.
To protect the health and safety of all guests and team members, Spirit has required appropriate face coverings during travel. Children aged 2 and under, as well as children who cannot maintain a face covering, will be exempt from wearing a mask.
According to Spirit.com, every aircraft uses two EPA-registered fogging treatments to disinfect. The first applies a safe, high-grade disinfectant that’s effective against Covid-19. The second uses an antimicrobial product that forms an invisible barrier on all surfaces that kills bacteria and viruses on contact for 30 days.
At the airport
Once at the airport, Spirit employees use EPA-registered disinfectants in all check-in and gate areas and are utilizing electrostatic cleaning devices in our high-traffic airports. Guests are allowed to scan their own boarding passes and are welcome to board at the end of the boarding process if they wish.
Currently, the airline has decided to block the usage of middle seats which has become a hot button issue in the airline industry.
When asked what Spirit’s current plans for middle seats are, Spirit Airlines Atlanta Station Manager Barry Payne said they are “selling all seats onboard the aircraft but the middle seats aren’t being assigned until there is a need, so we’re spacing people out as most as we can until the seats are needed onboard.”
With more people on board, more responsibility falls on the flight attendants to stay diligent and uphold that all passengers are following the new rules to meet all of their safety guidelines.
