While we all want to work together to combat this pandemic, the fact is that self isolation can be tough. How many shows can you watch or books can you read before you start to feel trapped? It’s so important to keep morale up and support each other. That’s why we came up with some of our favorite ideas to keep you busy and engaged. Try one or try them all and let us know what you thought.

having fun during self isolation

1. Cook Along with your Favorite Cooking Show

Have you been binge watching The Great British Bake Off (if you haven’t, try it – trust us) or Chopped? Why not bake or cook along? You can make it even more fun by setting up a competition just like your favorite show. Challenge your family to a signature bake. Or even better challenge them to make the best dish out of a random box of ingredients. It’s the perfect way to use those pantry items that you grabbed at the store, but don’t know what to do with now.

Bonus tip: You can even enjoy this if you’re on your own during self isolation. Challenge your friends virtually! Or step out of your box and try that recipe that’s always seemed too hard. For us that’s macarons and soufflé! (Wish us luck)

2. Take a Virtual Workout Class

Many of your favorite yogis and work out gurus are taking to Instagram Live and Facebook Live to host virtual work out classes. This is an amazing opportunity to try a new work out and feel connected in self isolation. The best part is no one is around so you don’t have to feel embarrassed if this is your first time in downward dog.

3. Learn how to Craft (knitting, mosaics, painting, woodworking)

knitting in self isolation

In our normal daily lives we often times don’t have a moment to take a nap let alone learn a new skill. Now that things are going at a slower pace, consider taking up a craft. Youtube is a great resource for easy to follow tutorials. Once you find a craft you love, you’ll be able to enjoy it long after self isolation ends.

4. Host a Virtual Happy Hour

We have a feeling that many of you made sure to stock your bar before heading into self isolation. (We did too). So why not host a virtual happy hour? Get on a video call with your friends and enjoy a drink together. Make it fun by having a signature cocktail.

5. Watch a Movie “with Friends”

Ok, ok we know you’re watching movies and shows… a lot. But you can make it more fun and even be social with it. Plan a date with friends to watch the same movie at the same time. Kick it up a notch and have everyone video chat at the same time!

6. Plan Your Next Vacation

We will get through this together, hopefully sooner than later. But we will get through it.  That’s why you should plan your next vacation now. You have time to read the best travel blogs, get inspired, and plan your itinerary. We all need something to look forward to, which is why this is our favorite thing to do during self isolation.
